December 22, 2009

As the January issue of DV goes to press in December, the first signs of the 2010 NAB Show have begun to arrive in my e-mail: invitations to NDA-protected demos and conference calls and questions about coverage plans. Yep, for those in the media, April is practically here.
But now there’s also an NAB Show preview designed especially for you — including those who have long dreamed of attending the annual confab in their PJs and a bathrobe.
This year, the NAB Show and NewBay Media — the publisher of DV, Videography, TV Technology, and Government Video, among other titles — have partnered to launch DigitalVision 2010, a complimentary virtual trade show for digital content creation professionals featuring live Q&A sessions, keynotes, moderated chats, and interactive exhibits. This online event will be held Wednesday, January 20.
A glimpse of things to come at the 2010 NAB Show, DigitalVision will include virtual exhibits featuring video presentations, live chats, product info, and prize giveaways. Exhibitors include event sponsor Sony, additional sponsors Harris and Omneon, as well as Clear-Com, Digital Rapids, Ensemble Designs, Mid-Atlantic Products, Snell, VCI Solutions, Viewcast, and Wohler Technologies, among others.
Also featured will be a virtual lounge, where attendees can connect with colleagues. It will include a series of chats led by NAB Show participants and the editors of the NewBay publications, including myself, your humble narrator.
Kicking off the event will be NAB president/CEO Gordon Smith participating in a Q&A-style keynote session moderated by TV Technology editor-in-chief Tom Butts.
DigitalVision is also absolutely free to attend. And you can register at http://www.digitalvision2010.com.
And the dress code? Vitrual trade show casual, of course, so break out your best PJs and robe, and I'll see you in the lounge.
Best,
David E. Williams Editor-in-Chief DV magazine and DV.com
